Flying with children and infants

If you’re travelling with children it’s important that you tell us when making a booking. Simply add the number of children and infants and their ages during the booking process.

If you haven't yet bought seats for your family the best way to ensure everyone is seated together is to check in as early as possible. Check in opens 30 days before departure and we recommend you check in as early and possible and no later than 7 days before your flight. Whilst our seating system will always try to seat families together, seats are allocated on a first come first served basis so the earlier you check in the more likely you are to be seated together. 

If you leave it to the last minute it's possible that there may not be enough seats left for us to seat your family next to each other. We’ll still make sure each child under 12 is seated close to an adult on your booking. However we may only be able to arrange this at the airport or on board, which can cause delays for you and other passengers, and not everyone may be seated together.

Infants have to sit with adults. Your infant can sit on your lap for a fee (see Fees and charges). It is recommended that an infant on an adult’s lap be forward-facing or in the cradled position for take-off and landing. On all of our aircraft we can allow up to one infant on a lap for each row of three seats. You can also buy a seat for them if you feel they’d be more comfortable. You can’t book these seats online so please contact our Customer Service team.

Please remember, each adult can travel with a maximum of two infants. If you're travelling with two infants, you'll need to buy an additional seat for at least one of your infants, who'll need to sit in a suitable car seat.

For take-off, landing and whenever the seat belt signs are on, an infant aged under two years old can be secured in any of the following ways:

- On the parent/guardian’s lap with the use of an extension seat belt.
- In a suitable child car seat (age/weight/height in accordance with manufacturers guidelines).
- In their own seat with a CARES harness (aged 1-4 years approximately and for weight between 10 and 20kg).

 

For safety reasons, only one infant is allowed in each row of three seats.

If you’re travelling with an infant, or have booked a seat for an infant you’re unable to sit in a restricted seat for safety reasons.

We don’t have family seating areas on board so you are free to buy a seat wherever you’d prefer.

Infants with booked seats and children over 2 years old have the same cabin bag and hold luggage allowance as adults. See our bags page for details.

If you’re travelling with an infant who will be seated on your lap, only an additional baby changing bag is allowed for the infant (max. 45 x 36 x 20 cm) and this must be placed under the seat in front of you.

If the infant is occupying their own seat they are allowed:

• Standard seat or no seat selection: one small cabin bag plus a changing bag (each max. 45 x 36 x 20 cm).
• Up Front or Extra Legroom seat: one small cabin bag (max. 45 x 36 x 20 cm) plus a changing bag (max. 45 x 36 x 20 cm).
• Any seat, with purchase of a large cabin bag: one large cabin bag (max 56 x 45 x 25 cm) and one small cabin bag (max. 45 x 36 x 20 cm) plus a changing bag (max. 45 x 36 x 20 cm).

Standard size Trunki suitcases (46 x 20.5 x 31 cm) can be brought on board and will need to be placed under the seat in front of you. Larger size Trunki suitcases will have to go in the hold.

For every infant or child you can bring up to two of the following items free of charge to go into the hold, in addition to your cabin bag allowance:

• travel cot
• pushchair
• double pushchair
• buggy
• car seat
• collapsible or non-collapsible pram
• booster seat
• baby back carrier.

You can check these in at our Bag Drop before you go through security, or if you need to use any of them to get to the boarding gate, we’ll collect them from you before you board the plane and put them in the aircraft hold. They will be available to collect at the baggage reclaim when you arrive at your destination.

If you wish to bring any of these items with you in the cabin, they will need to be stowed in the overhead locker, should not exceed 56 x 45 x 25 cm, (including any handles or wheels), and need to be purchased as a ‘large cabin bag’ when you book your flight.

You’ll need to take your child out of their pushchair to pass through security.

Some airports have play areas for children. Please check the airports website for more information.

You can bring baby food, baby milk and sterilised water in your cabin bag. This includes: soya milk for babies, sterilised water (which must be in a baby bottle), formula, breast milk or cow milk (specifically for babies) and baby food in containers of 100ml or less. They then must be placed inside a clear re-sealable plastic bag no bigger than 20 x 20cm.

The 100ml liquid limit doesn’t apply to baby food, milk or sterlised water, provided that the total amount is no more than 1 litre. You may be asked to taste it for security reasons.

We have baby changing facilities at the front and rear of the plane. You’ll need to bring your own nappies and wipes as they aren’t provided on board.

If you’re breastfeeding, please feel free to feed on board.

If you’re pregnant, you can travel up until the end of your 35th week (32nd week for multiple pregnancies) and you don’t need to bring a medical certificate.

Some seats on board the aircraft may be restricted but we show you which ones when booking.

Please make sure you complete all return journeys no later than week 32/35 depending on pregnancy type.

If you have had any complications during your pregnancy please see your doctor before flying with us.

Infant car seats

Infants sitting in their own seat will need to use a car seat for take-off and landing, and any time when asked by the crew. We don’t have car seats on board so you will need to bring your own.

Please note that booster seats cannot be used during take-off, landing or when the seatbelt signs are switched on. They can be checked in to the hold for free as part of your child’s cabin baggage and hold allowance.

It’s your responsibility to make sure the seat is suitable for your child. Only forward facing car seats are allowed on board and the crew must be able to secure it safely to the aircraft seat. If you don’t intend to use your car seat on board, please check it into the hold at the Bag Drop desks.

Each adult can travel with a maximum of two infants. If you're travelling with two infants, you'll need to buy an additional seat for at least one of your infants, who'll need to sit in a suitable car seat.

Child restraint devices (CARES)

CARES can be used for children who weigh between 10 and 20 kg (22 and 44 lbs) and whose height is 100 cm (40inches) or less. They must also be able to sit upright unaided. This normally applies to children between the ages of 1 and 4.

It may not possible to use these on all seats so you’ll need to contact our Special Assistance team to discuss your seating needs.

Please note that car seats and CARES harnesses are not provided by easyJet and customers are responsible for ensuring that any device brought on board is suitable for their child.

FireFly GOTO seats

The Firefly GOTO seat is a postural support seat for children with additional needs. We accept both size 1 and size 2 seats on board.

Please note that infants under 2 years old can only use these seats in-flight whilst the seatbelt signs are off. When the seatbelt signs are on, infants will need to be secured on the lap of an adult with an infant seatbelt which we will provide you onboard, or alternatively, you can bring a different seating device with you, such as a suitable car seat or CARES device. More information about the seat can be found on the GOTO seat website.

It may not possible to use the GoTo on all seats in the aircraft, so please contact our Special Assistance team to discuss your seating needs before you travel.

Other seats

We also accept Crelling Harnesses, Burnett Body Support and TravelChairs. Please speak to our Special Assistance team for further information.

• Little ones don’t always know how to pop their ears to stop the build-up of pressure, so take something for them to chew or swallow during take-off and landing
• Always try to bring a change of clothes in your cabin bag to accommodate any accidents and avoid any unnecessary discomfort
• Car seats can be incredibly heavy - with or without a little one in them!  Remember that if you are bringing one on board, you will need to carry it to baggage reclaim before there are trolleys available. If you are not taking your own car seat(s), double-check that the airport transfers you have arranged can accommodate any seating requirements for your family.
• If you make a booking for an adult and later wish to add a child, please contact us. 
  
  if you have made a booking for an adult plus child and the adult is no longer travelling please contact us as the child will not be able to fly alone.  If the child can travel with an adult on another booking as part of the same party then we will amend this for you.
  
   

If you’d like to add an infant to your booking, this can be done online quickly and easily through Manage Bookings. Once you’ve logged into your account, click ‘view bookings’ and then choose which booking you’d like to add the infant to.  

Under the ‘Manage Booking and Special Assistance’ section, you can click the link that says ‘Add infant’. You’ll then be taken to a page where you can add your infant’s details and pay any necessary fees.
