There’s no better place in the world to feel festive come Christmas time, with enough reindeer and endless white snow to feel like a Who from Whoville in. No grinches allowed – here Christmas is less an event, more a lifestyle with both a Santa Park AND a Santa Claus Village running year-round. The town was unfortunately levelled by the retreating Wehrmacht in 1944, but the more functional buildings are offset by the surrounding nature (Rovaniemi sits right by the Arctic Circle). Plus the main streets are in the shape of a reindeer’s head and antlers, which is more than enough whimsy for anyone, surely?
